Welcome to Dawn 2 Dusk Photography's very first visit to the stunning Yorkshire Coastline. This is a workshop you have been asking us to run for many years now and thanks to D2D tutor Mark Banks - a local Yorkshire lad and leading landscape professional - we have the intimate knowledge of the area and expertise to guide you to some of the very best viewpoints this stretch of coast has to offer! There is just so much to explore and photograph along the North Yorkshire coast, including big classic vistas, minimalist long exposures, and also intimate and interesting abstracts.
For the duration of this 3-day workshop we will be staying in Whitby - a gem of a seaside town nestled around a small harbour at the mouth of the River Esk on the North Yorkshire coast. With its sweeping twin piers, Victorian architecture, Benedictine Abbey, and cobbled side-streets, Whitby has attracted artists and photographers from around the world for over a hundred years! From here, we'll be in the perfect location to visit a large swaith of Yorkshire coastline from Saltburn, Staithes and Skinningrove to the north, and Scarborough and Saltwick Bay to the south, famous for its imposing and photogenic sea stacks (or nabs). We will also visit nearby Falling Foss, an elegant waterfall within an enchanting forest!
For this workshop, we will be staying at the Angel Hotel, owned by the Weatherspoons chain. It is centrally located, only a few minutes from the main beach and has an excellent 4.5 Star review on Tripadvisor. Like many hotels in Whitby, it does not have its own car park, but the Endeavour Wharf car park is close by (costing approx. £10.80 for 24hrs parking). Included in the cost of the workshop is 2-nights accomodation (sole occupancy in either a single, twin, or double room), evening meal in a local restaurant (Wednesday and Thursday), breakfast (Thursday and Friday) and lunch on all three days.
Mark Bauer will be joining Mark as a tutor on this workshop. With a group size of just 8 people, but with 2 tutors, plenty of individual attention is guaranteed. For comfort and convenience, transport is via car sharing. We hope you can join us....
