With outstanding coastal scenery the Gower Peninsula in South Wales has long been cherished for its natural beauty. It was the first area in the UK to be designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and after visiting it’s easy to understand why.
A landscape of dramatic towering cliffs and golden sandy beaches, the Gower Peninsula is without doubt a photographic highlight of the UK coast. During this workshop we will be staying at the Kings Head Inn in the village of Llangennith. Ideally positioned on the Gower itself, our accommodation is only a short drive from the famous Rhossili Beach, a key location we will visit on this workshop. The hotel was unable to offer a dinner, bed and breakfast package, so accommodation is bed and breakfast only, with dinner at the inn's restaurant on a pay-as-you-go basis. However, packed lunches are included on days 2 and 3 and - on this occassion - we have also negotiated an extra night's accommodation on the final night. Therefore, there is no need to drive straight home after a long day's photography on the final day. Instead, you can enjoy a nice relaxing extra night at the Kings Head and, if you want to, maybe revisit your favourite location for a dawn shoot the following day.
In addition to Rhossili, locations we will photograph include Bracelet Bay with its iconic lighthouse, Worm’s Head, and the distinctive Three Cliffs Bay. This is a beautiful area to explire with your camera.
On this workshop your tutors will be Drew Buckley and Mark Bauer. Drew knows this area better than most, having written the Fotovue guide to South Wales, and he and Mark will ensure that you are guided to the best locations at the right time, and will always be on hand to offer tuition to help you get the best out of your visit to the Gower. The workshop will also include a post-processing tutorial and – if time allows – the opportunity to have your pictures expertly critiqued by Mark and Drew.
With a group size of just 8 people, but 2 tutors, you are assured of plenty of attention and bespoke learning and feedback while in the field. For comfort and convenience, transport is via car sharing. We hope you can join us...
