West Cornwall Workshop Review

West Cornwall is a truly special place. It is home to some of the most enticing golden beaches and dramatic coastal scenery found anywhere in the UK. 'Rugged' is the perfect word to describe the coastline here. This area is mostly formed from granite bedrock and it is well known for its towering cliffs and interesting geology. Tin and copper have been mined here since pre-Roman days, and the landscape is punctuated with chimneys and engine houses. There is a wealth of iconic viewpoints to shoot when you visit Penwith and, regardless of the time of year, you will not be short of options. It is no wonder then that this is one of our very favourite places to run a workshop…

Tenth Year

We have recently returned from running our annual 3-day Dawn 2 Dusk Photography West Cornwall workshop… and what a great couple of days we all had. This is the tenth year we have hosted this workshop and we again based ourselves in Marazion, in order to be close to St Michael’s Mount – a superb location for a dawn shoot. The Godolphin Arms – just a stone’s throw away from Marazion beach – did a superb job of hosting the group, providing great hospitality, fantastic food and stunning views overlooking Mounts Bay.

It was great to welcome back so many familiar faces and meet new clients also. As always, we had carefully selected the dates of this workshop to coincide with the perfect tides for our key locations, but the one thing you cannot control is the weather! Thankfully, we were fortunate throughout the workshop, with good light, colour and drama throughout. By the time we visited Poldark’s tin mines at Botallack on the last evening, everyone had memory cards brimming full of great images. 

We now look forward to returning to this area again in February 2020, when the wonderful Mount’s Haven Hotel will be hosting our next group. We hope you can join us…
