Pop the champagne cork – Dawn 2 Dusk Photography recently celebrated its 15th birthday! Founded in 2008 by two of the UK’s leading landscape photographers, Mark Bauer and Ross Hoddinott, Dawn 2 Dusk Photography has quickly grown into one of the best-known workshop providers in the UK – with an unrivalled reputation for offering friendly, expert guidance in a relaxed and fun environment.
So, why are we called ‘Dawn 2 Dusk Photography’? Quite simply, our priority is always picture taking during our workshops. As long as the weather allows, we will be out for a dawn shoot, and always endeavour to take photos until last light. While we also provide classroom style tutorials during the day, rest assured that on our courses photography will always be the top priority.
Our ethos hasn’t altered over the past decade. We want to provide an experience – guiding you to beautiful, photogenic viewpoints and giving you the knowledge and opportunity to capture gorgeous and creative images. We rarely take photos ourselves during workshops – first and foremost, we are there to help you develop your skills. Your level of experience and expertise is immaterial to us – we enjoy spending time individually with each and every one of our delegates while on location, and by doing so we can tailor our advice and guidance to your specific needs and requirements. Therefore, our workshops are genuinely suitable for all – from complete beginners to semi-professionals. We specialise in running short residential workshops in the UK, but we also run overseas tours and our themed one-day courses prove exceptionally popular.
The Dawn 2 Dusk Photography team continues to grow. In 2018, Nikon Alumni and Leica Ambassador, Jeremy Walker joined us, while in recent months, we have also welcomed award-winning Welsh photographer Drew Buckley and wildlife expert Ben Hall into the team. Adobe certified expert, Adrian Beasley, is also now working with us on a new range of Captue 2 Print workshops, and we are thrilled that Mark Banks has also recently joined the D2D team. Between us, we have decades of professional and creative experience at the very highest level. On our workshops, we will share our insight with you – our aim is to inspire and encourage. We always try to create a fun group dynamic and our workshops are an opportunity to meet and exchange ideas with like-minded people. We hope you can join us on a workshop soon…

UK LPOTY success
Dawn 2 Dusk Photography tutors, Mark Bauer and Ross Hoddinott, have both had success in this year’s prestigious UK Landscsape Photographer of the Year competition. Mark had a Highly Commended image in the 'Black & White' category, while Ross’s photograph of the Quiraing, on the Isle of Skye, was Commended in 'Classic View'. FROM DAWN TO DUSK – Mastering the Light in Landscape Photography is now on sale. This is the third in a series of books by the founders of Dawn 2 Dusk Photography – Mark Bauer and Ross Hoddinott. This is a hands-on guide to mastering the techniques required to take better, more creative, landscape photographs. It is also a photography guide like no other. The book has a unique structure that leads the reader on an hour-by-hour, picture-by-picture journey from dawn to dusk, and then on into the night. Each chapter focuses on the benefits and challenges of shooting in the available light at a particular time of the day.
